RPA Canada proudly celebrated International Women’s Day 2026 at Venture X Heartland, Mississauga, bringing together professionals, entrepreneurs, and community leaders to recognize the importance of women’s leadership and entrepreneurship.
During the event, Zubair Choudhry, RPA, APA, Publisher, President & CEO of RPA Canada, and Founder of the RPA Women Entrepreneur Awards, officially launched the nomination process for the 8th RPA Women Entrepreneur Awards.
The awards recognize the accomplishments, innovation, and leadership of women entrepreneurs who are making meaningful contributions to business and economic development in Ontario and across Canada.
In his remarks, Zubair Choudhry emphasized RPA Canada’s mission to empower women by encouraging entrepreneurship and higher professional education with RPA Scholarships, enabling women to become strong contributors to Canada’s economic growth and the success of small and medium-sized businesses.
We were also honoured to hear remarks from Deepak Anand, who highlighted the importance of greater participation of women in every sector of society and acknowledged the role of organizations like RPA Canada in supporting women’s leadership and opportunity.
While International Women’s Day began more than a century ago, the journey toward full equality and opportunity for women continues, making initiatives such as the RPA Women Entrepreneur Awards more important than ever.
Sarah Wilson-Miller, Coordinator of the RPA Women Entrepreneur Awards, invited the community to nominate inspiring women entrepreneurs or encouraged successful women to nominate themselves for this prestigious recognition. She also called on supporters and volunteers to join RPA Canada in promoting this important initiative.
The evening was well attended, offering an excellent opportunity for networking, collaboration, and learning from each other’s entrepreneurial journeys.

RPA Members, Practitioners, and Students Express Their Appreciation to ZUBAIR CHOUDHRY, President & CEO of RPA Canada, for His Vision, Leadership, and Hard Work
Joseph Morgado, RPA, CMA (ANZ), CGBA Canada, Principal of Morgado Accounting Group, hosted a surprise recognition gathering at Moxie’s Restaurant in Mississauga to honour Zubair Choudhry, RPA, APA, Publisher, President & CEO of RPA Canada, for his dedication to the accounting profession and Canada’s SMEs.
The evening brought together RPA practitioners, members, students, colleagues, friends, and supporters to celebrate Zubair’s leadership and his efforts to strengthen and modernize the RPA designation in Canada. Sheref Sabawy, MPP, delivered a special message from the Premier of Ontario, and Hon. Nina Tangri, MPP, also shared her appreciation for Zubair’s work in advancing small business accounting.
During the event, the RPA Canada Board of Directors presented Zubair with the Excellence Service Award in recognition of his vision and leadership in promoting affordable, accessible, and competent accounting services for SMEs. In his remarks, Zubair reaffirmed his commitment to developing future-ready accountants and advancing the Made-in-Canada RPA pathway.
RPA Canada would like to inform all RPA Members, Certified Accounting Practitioners, of important updates issued by Corporations Canada regarding the Registered Intermediary (RI) program.
As part of its ongoing commitment to maintaining a secure, accurate, and trusted federal corporate registry system, Corporations Canada will introduce updated compliance requirements for Registered Intermediaries beginning Spring 2026.
Opportunity for RPA Members and Practitioners
RPA Canada encourages Registered Professional Accountants (RPAs) and Certified Accounting Practitioners to register as Registered Intermediaries (RI). This provides an opportunity to actively support federal corporate filings, regulatory compliance, and business advisory services across Canada.
Key Updates to the RI Program
New Terms of Service All Registered Intermediaries will be required to agree to a new Terms of Service as part of the renewal process. The updated agreement will:
Define responsibilities between RIs and Corporations Canada
Reinforce compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC) standards
Require accurate and up-to-date business and contact information
Mandatory Application Form All RIs must complete a new application form, which will:
Collect updated and comprehensive information
Ensure accuracy and accessibility of corporate filing data
Support improved regulatory compliance and system efficiency
Implementation Timeline
The new RI renewal and application process will take effect in Spring 2026, with invitations to apply being issued in the coming months.
